The Accounting Technicians Diploma (ATD) is a KASNEB diploma course designed to produce skilled mid-level accounting, auditing, and taxation professionals. It is structured to equip students with practical, hands-on business and bookkeeping competencies. It is widely used as a direct bridge to the professional CPA program, allowing students who did not score a C+ in high school to seamlessly scale up their careers. Minimum Entry Requirements To enroll in the ATD program, you must meet at least one of the following requirements: High School: Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade of C- (Minus) or higher. KASNEB Pathway: A pass in the Certificate in Accounting and Management Skills (CAMS) qualification. Other Qualifications: A technician certificate or diploma from another recognized institution approved by KASNEB. ATD Course Structure & Syllabus The ATD curriculum is divided into three levels, with each level comprising 4 distinct papers (12 papers total). You must pass a lower level entirely before advancing to the next. Level 1: Introduction to Business Fundamentals This level lays down the foundation blocks of law, communication, basic bookkeeping, and digital literacy. AD11: Introduction to Financial Accounting AD12: Introduction to Law and Ethics AD13: Entrepreneurship and Communication AD14: Information Communication Technology (ICT) Level 2: Core Applications This level introduces mathematical structures, operational guidelines, and baseline tax procedures. AD21: Financial Accounting AD22: Principles of Management AD23: Business Mathematics and Statistics AD24: Principles of Public Finance and Taxation Level 3: Advanced Technical Operations The final level prepares you for actual technical roles in internal audits, corporate finance, and costing analysis. AD31: Principles of Economics AD32: Fundamentals of Management Accounting AD33: Fundamentals of Finance AD34: Principles of Auditing 🚀 The Pathway: What Happens After ATD? Once you successfully graduate with your Accounting Technicians Diploma, you gain direct, unique leverage in the KASNEB system: Direct Entry to CPA: You can instantly register for the elite CPA Professional Course, even if your high school grade didn't meet the standard C+ minimum requirement. Paper Exemptions: Because you already completed 12 rigorous papers, KASNEB generally rewards ATD graduates with automatic exemptions for the entire CPA Foundation Level (all 6 papers). This means you skip the basics and dive straight into the CPA Intermediate level!
